I feel so bad for not keeping y'all updated the last few weeks on the who/what/where/when/why of tailoring and bridal style! I have a good excuse, I swear!
I have so many projects in the works right now, it's tough for me to face them all head on, much less take the time after an exhausting day and blog!
I've been trying to get these dresses done for the line to launch next month...but before we launch we're going to have a photo shoot with my good friend
Cory Tepper, which means they need to be done, like, yesterday! Ahhhhh! The shoot is scheduled for next Monday, the 12th, and we're all in planning mode trying to dot our i's and whatnot so everything turns out as fabulous as we imagine!
Luckily, Cory is totally laid back and we have very similar ideas for the shoot, so he's not what I'm stressin' about...it's me! How will I ever get them all done?!?!
Basically, what I've decided to do is make the shells of the dresses and finish them later. The "shell" is the outer part of the dress. It becomes a fully functioning dress when we add a lining and structure to the inside to make sure it keeps its shape, isn't transparent, is comfortable to wear, etc. (Those little things :) !!). Luckily, in photographs, the inside of the dress isn't the important part, so we can just make the outer shell of the dress and make it look like it's done, then do all the hard work of finishing it up (it really is the hardest and most time consuming part) later, when we're not on such a tight deadline.
Once they're shot, Cory will do a little editing, then we can print them up as flyers, post cards, booklets, portfolios, and posters! That's the exciting part, seeing it all in print. For some reason it makes the project feel complete.
I sent the word out to my lovely ladies of the past couple of years that I've done custom garments for, and convinced a couple of them to come down for the fun! We'll get to see their dresses again, get a beautiful professional shot of them, and then the girls get to take home the images as a keepsake! I'm so happy they've decided to help me out!
Meanwhile, there are dresses to be made and meetings to attend, so stay patient, dolls, I'll be back online in no time!!
Love,
Sara
PS That's my dear friend Lindsey modeling for me, isn't she a doll?
